Constitutional Court of Korea, Constitutional Research Institute

Ever since the foundation of the Constitutional Court of Korea there have been many requests for developing constitutional adjudication system in a more advanced way as constitutional adjudication has had great influence on the nation and society. Also, there have been a lot of necessities for active research on constitutional issues as the number of cases of constitutional adjudication has increased and the types and contents have become complicated and diversified. Furthermore, there have been increasing demands for providing consitutional education to public officials, lawyers, etc. based on approximately 30 years of experience in constitutional adjudication.

• The Institute conducts research and undertakes studies on the Constitution and constitutional adjudication from a mid-to a long-term perspective, through which it explores the ways of improving the Constitution and constitutional adjudication that best suit the South Korean society.
• The Institute undertakes previewing and active studies on major constitutional law issues and thereby helps the Constitutional Court of Korea render speedy adjudications on constitutional review cases.
• The Institute provides constitutional education to people from various social strata, through which it enables the South Korean society to become more aware of the people's basic rights, and to promote a system based on the rule of law.
